The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Tuesday mentioned it has taken suo motu cognisance of movies purportedly exhibiting ladies being crushed up in West Bengal’s Nandigram after the meeting election within the state.
West Bengal was within the throes of widespread violence on Monday that allegedly left a number of BJP staff useless and injured in clashes, and outlets being looted, prompting the Centre to hunt a factual report from the state authorities on the incidents of assault on opposition staff.
In a letter to the director basic of police (DGP) of the state, the NCW has sought rapid motion in opposition to these accused within the violence, and demanded a time-bound investigation within the matter.
“The National Commission for Women (NCW) has come throughout a number of Twitter posts whereby some goons might be seen beating up ladies in Nandigram, West Bengal, put up elections. The fee is deeply perturbed and has seen this incident critically because it questions the security and safety of ladies within the state,” an announcement from the commission mentioned.
“Chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to Director Basic of Police, West Bengal, to take rapid motion and arrest the accused individuals with none delay,” it added.
A staff headed by the NCW chairperson can be visiting West Bengal for additional inquiry into the matter, the assertion mentioned.
