Initiatives such as ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ encouraged Indians to explore the alternative through the direct sale route of buying and selling locally made goods, which implies low investments and high returns. This not only boosted local production but also generated a sense of ownership as well as determination to succeed among budding entrepreneurs.
The Direct Sale industry in India has provided its citizens with additional revenue opportunities and has encouraged micro-entrepreneurship significantly. There were 5.7 million direct sellers in FY 2018-19. By 2025, these estimates are expected to rapidly rise to 18.1 million.
Right from its inception, the sector has also motivated women in a significant way. Today, there are nearly 2.1 million women who are at the center of this sector and have become active entrepreneurs.
