L&T is looking to hire approximately 1,100 graduate and post-graduate engineering trainees in 2021

A top company official has said that the engineering and construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is looking to hire approximately 1,100 graduate and post-graduate engineering trainees in 2021 and deploy them across different industry verticals. The company has already made about 250 offers in the recent hiring season at premium education institutions such as IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, IIT BHU, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, IIT Hyderabad, and other IITs through its ongoing virtual hiring process.

“L&T not only offers Graduate and Post Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs & PGETs) continuous learning opportunities and a growth path but also gives them immense satisfaction to work on projects that are high on the top of the national or global pecking order,” company’s chief executive and managing director S N Subrahmanyan said.

In 2021, 1,100 engineers are expected to be hired and 250 IITians have already received offers, he said. The company hires about 1,100 plus engineers in the same year, 90% of which belong to leading institutes such as IITs, NITs, and top government engineering colleges, the company said. The company has also sustained its momentum of hiring from the best of the institutes during this pandemic year and has launched its internally developed online recruitment platform to facilitate 100% remote recruitment, Subrahmanyan said.

“The Graduate Engineer Training (GET) programme has several alumni and leaders serving in leadership positions at the company. This signature programme known for its selection rigour has very high aspirational value in the best campuses across the country,” added Subrahmanyan.

L&T’s entire recruiting process is automated and remote, including the testing process carried out with the assistance of a remote proctoring tool that tracks the 14-parameter exam. The platform used for recruiting was developed internally by the organization.

The firm said that for over three weeks, this hired talent would be put into an internally built induction program.

The curriculum induces talent into L&T’s business and functional dimensions and offers experiential learning and professional hands-on workshops.

This is also an opportunity for these youngsters to connect with L&T’s senior management and get acquainted with the organization’s strategy and core values.

The company retained its commitment despite pandemic-related challenges and completed a three-week virtual induction phase for all newly recruited 2020 batch GETs & PGETs via digital and remote mode in August 2020, the company said.
