Statement in Solidarity with All India General Strike #StrikeHard
In light of the recent events, the Central Trade Unions and Federations and Workers all over
India has announced a nationwide strike. During this pandemic crisis, we have seen how the
BJP led central government has put on attacks against the migrant workers and the farmers.
The Farmer Bill 2020 and the draconian measures against the workers are just tip of the
iceberg of the privatisation of public sectors.
The Education system of this nation, has also faced the emerging trends of privatisation and
we have seen its impact on students from underprivileged backgrounds.
Presidency University Students’ Union extends it’s solidarity for the General Strike and
supports the demand of the reformation of Labour Law 2020, and the rejection of Farmer Bill
2020 and Essential Commodities Act 2020. These bills and the constant attack on students
and the privatisation of schools and colleges (National Education Policy 2020) are the
example of the rising fascist forces. To fight against this anti-farmer, anti-worker and anti-
student regime, we should stand unitedly against the undemocratic and communal
government.
The Presidency University Students’ Union calls upon all the students, teachers, researchers
around the nation to join this ongoing protest against the Central Government and its barbaric
atrocities this 26th November.
